Santa Barbara Carriage and Western Art Museum - Docent Field Trip

Carriage Muse1.jpg

September’s Docent field trip is to the Santa Barbara Carriage and Western Art Museum. Our regular meeting will start at 9 AM with the hope of leaving SIM by 9:30. We need to let them know how many will attend, so please let Cynthia know at (805) 499-1507. Admission fee is $5.00.

This is a fabulous museum with a mission to collect, display and preserve historic horse-drawn vehicles, saddles, and western memorabilia. Thier unique collection is comprised of over 40 horse-drawn conveyances manufactured between 1850 to 1911. The saddle collection consists of over 50 saddles. Many belonged to famous people, such as Cisco Kid, Will Rogers, Clark Gable, Jimmy Stewart and many others. The collection also includes one-of-a-kind silver saddles and equestrian tack by noted leather craftsmen such as Loomis, Forbes, and Visalia.

We will try to carpool to get there and then have lunch in Santa Barbara afterwards.
